Briefs at Mines March 27, 1919 The much discussed and more stolen MinesColorado university goat is in good hands, and there is no need for local students to worry said Jack Reynes (CU) yell-leader of the student body. Reynes remarks led to the conclusion (not stated) that the goat was actually taken by Mines students last Saturday night, but that it was later recovered in Denver by university representatives. Reynes charged that the Denver newspapers were guilty of attempting to stir up feelings in the university students to a point where an invasion of Mines campus would result. He (Reynes) referred to Mines men as being tough Miners who came over here and sought to scare us by their rough yells. May 5, 1927 Statement by the president of the faculty and the board of trustees of Colorado School of Mines. The administration of the Colorado School of Mines believes that the true function of education is to stimulate a search for truth. It believes that the true function of the teacher is to present his subject in such a way that it will challenge and inspire the student to analyze and to think for himself, so that he may be capable of recognizing and assimilating truth and that he may not fear to follow where truth may lead. October 6, 1945 Letter written to Miss Jane by Dean Jesse R. Morgan. My Dear Miss, I am sending you a copy of our general catalog and book of views of the school. The entrance requirements are listed on page 21, and the school expenses, such as tuition and fees, on pages 25-28. While the Colorado School of Mines is co-educational by law, it has no women students and perhaps you would find it more desirable to enroll in an institution that has other women students. Very truly yours,Jesse R. Morgan |
