| Presidents Council Members
Recognized Regionally
During October and December, more than 250 members and guests of the
Colorado School of Mines Presidents Council were recognized at
special dinners and receptions in three states. The regional events
replaced the annual dinner on campus.
Dr. Neil Hurley, the Charles Boettcher Distinguished Chair in Petroleum
Geology and Professor in the Department of Geology and Geological
Engineering, spoke at the Oct. 14 Presidents Council dinner in Tulsa,
Oklahoma, and Max Peeters, Baker Hughes Distinguished Chair in Borehole
Geophysics/Petrophysics, addressed some 50 Council members and guests at
the Oct. 26 dinner in Houston at the home of Harvey 75 and Seanne
Klingensmith.
In Denver, at a Dec. 8 reception, Dr. Robert Knecht, director of Mines
EPICS program, related the progress of three exciting community programs
his students are working on. Fifteen of his students displayed their
EPICS projects and answered questions from the 130 PC members and guests
attending the reception.
Through these regional receptions and dinner, the Colorado School of
Mines acknowledge Mines donors and further promote the importance of the
Presidents Council and the Annual Fund. Volunteer committees in eight
targeted regions are working to build Presidents Council membership
through personal contact.
Last years Council membership of 561 alumni and friends contributed
$10 million to the School. Of that amount, $2.9 million was given to the
Annual Fund, which supports the Schools most pressing annual needs. |
