| Williams
Communications Group, Inc., formerly the telecommunications subsidiary
of Williams, was formed in January 1997 by the combination of Williams
Telecommunications Systems, Inc. (WilTel) and the WilTech Group. The Tulsa, OK-based company reported sales of $1.7 billion and 8,563 employees in 1998, and began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on October 1, 1999. Williams Communications sells, maintains and integrates communication products and services and provides the network applications that are needed to drive optimal use of that equipment. The company currently has a 20,000-mile fiber optic network which will expand to 38,000 by the end of 2000. The following business units comprise Williams Communications:
