| Gerald Grandey was
appointed executive vice president of Cameco Corporation in 1997. His responsibilities at
Cameco include exploration, marketing, corporate development, U.S. and Kazakhstan
operations and the commercial implementation of the agreements to dismantle Russian
nuclear weapons. Mr. Grandey joined Cameco in 1993 as senior vice president of marketing and corporate development, responsible for the international marketing of uranium products and identifica- tion and development of new business opportunities. Prior to joining Cameco, Mr. Grandey was vice chair and chief executive off icer of The Concord Mining Business Unit. Also in his career, he gained mining experience as president of Energy Fuels, a U.S. coal and uranium mining company. Mr. Grandey is also a past- president of the Uranium Producers of America, an industry lobbying association. After graduating from CSM in 1968, Mr. Grandey received a law degree from Northwestern University. He practiced law for several years with a Denver firm, which specialized in mineral financing, natural resources and environmental law. Currently, Mr. Grandey serves on the executive committee of the Uranium Institute and the boards of the Nuclear Energy Institute, the National Mining Association and the Saskatoon YMCA. |
