
The Achievement Rewards for College Scientists
(ARCS) 2002 Scholarship Awards Luncheon was held at Colorado School of Mines on Wednesday,
November 13th. Students from Mines, Colorado State University, University of Colorado
Health Sciences Center, and University of Colorado - Boulder were honored at the luncheon.
Mines' President Dr. John U. Trefny gave the opening remarks, and Jim Benemann from 9News
introduced each of the scholars. Also presented at the luncheon was Dr. Carl Wieman, a
2001 Nobel Prize Winner in Physics and a Professor at CU. Dr. Weiman is one of the
2002-2003 ARCS' Scientists of the Year. The ARCS Foundation is an all-volunteer charitable
foundation that awards scholarships to college students majoring in science and
engineering.
